Album

Brian Wilson Presents Smile also referred to as Smile or the abbreviation BWPS is the fifth studio album by Brian Wilson, released in September 2004. Its production began as a series of concert performances which were then adapted for a studio album, as well as a 2005 direct-to-video concert film of the same title. The album received great acclaim and earned Wilson his first Grammy Award, later being featured in several greatest albums lists. Upon release, it peaked at number 13 on the US. Smile - Brian Wilson. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Happily, a new recording of SMiLE by Brian Wilson reveals the record as nothing more or less than a jaunty epic of psychedelic Americana, a rambling and discursive, playful and affectionate series of song cycles. Infectious and hummable, to be sure, and a remarkably unified, irresistible piece of pop music, but no musical watershed on par with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Wilson's masterpiece, Pet Sounds. Smile was the album that broke Beach Boy Brian Wilson, one of the greatest songwriters of the 1960s. Now, 45 years on, the dozens and dozens of recordings made in the now almost legendary Smile Sessions are being released. In 1966, the Beach Boys released Pet Sounds and set a new benchmark for innovative pop music. The Beatles took notice. A year later, Wilson, the sensitive songwriter behind most of their hits, set out to create something an even more adventurous Beach Boys album. It was to be called Smile but it was never released. Wilson still bears some of the mental scars. Talking to him. Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE. The Greatest Album That Never Was finally is. The Beach Boys' uncompleted 1967 album Smile has remained the elusive touchstone of Brian Wilson's brilliant, star-crossed career for decades. Artistic Holy Grail and troubling professional Waterloo for Wilson, a tantalizing prism of unfulfilled promise to his loyal cadre of fans, its story has become pop music's Rashomon. Finally completed via spring 2004 recordings. Finally: After 35 years, Brian Wilson solves the Smile puzzle, piecing together the fragments that fans have spent the last 3 decades meticulously researching, speculating over, and attempting to assemble themselves. As the mythical follow-up to Pet Sounds, it delivers, and despite his age, Wilson's voice even sounds fantastic, still carrying the weight of these angelic melodies. Genre: Rock. yeah, this is good, but it seems much too late for this to have been created. smile would have been a groundbreaking album, if it were created at its point of conception in the 60's. however, the updated smile that Wilson put together in the 2000's really feels off and inauthentic. now, im not saying these arent totally awesome songs, because. some of them really are. but the entire personality of the album is very forced and i cant get into it. fav tracks: good vibrations, heroes and. read more. Brian Wilson Presents Smile is the fifth studio album by the American musician Brian Wilson. It was released in September, 2004. The project was originally conceived in 1966 as SMiLE, a concept album recorded by the Beach Boys written in collaboration between Wilson and lyricist Van Dyke Parks. It was intended to succeed the groups 11th studio album Pet Sounds and was based on the engineering methods of their single Good Vibrations. Many years after the project was shelved due to personal and technical difficulties with recording, Wilson chose to revisit the material with Parks as a speci. Brian Wilson Format: Audio CD
