Album

Yoko OnoPlastic Ono Band is the avant-garde debut studio album by Yoko Ono. The album came after recording three experimental releases with John Lennon and a live album as a member of The Plastic Ono Band. With the exception of AOS, a 1968 recording, the entire album was recorded in one afternoon in October 1970 during the John LennonPlastic Ono Band sessions at Ascot Sound Studios and Abbey Road Studios, using the same musicians and production team. Also recorded on this day were Don't Worry. The Plastic Ono Band was a rock band formed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1969 for their collaborative and solo projects. Lennon and Ono began a personal and artistic relationship in 1968, collaborating on several experimental releases. The band featured a rotating lineup of musicians including Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann, Alan White, Billy Preston. Dilettante garbage, simply. Now Yoko finally has an album all her own out, and it bodes well for future experiments by the Murk Twins along these lines. However we name it, Johns album is one of the boldest acts in rock history. Mother, with its funereal bell, opens the album on a note of solemn introspection, building to an authentically Primal Scream climax of abandonment. At records end, the scratchy coda My Mummys Dead sounds like a ghostly transmission from the 1950s teenage bedroom in Menlove Avenue we can visit that room today and see, as Yoko says, that his childhood bedroom was so tiny but what a big dream it must have contained.
